Does writing have to be painful?

"There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed."

This quote about writing comes from Ernest Hemingway, and highlights that writing must be from the heart and make the reader feel something. But does writer need to be in agony?

There’s something inherently poetic about a struggling, baggy-eyed writer staring hopelessly at a computer screen to find the right word. Does writers have to suffer to produce great work?

In my opinion, no. A writer must work to produce great work.
